NOT MUCH HAPPENING

Been a while since I posted, nothing much happening. I decided to give the girls a complete rest from agility over the winter. as both have been injured indoor training, I have decided no more training or competing indoors! Ellie's accident was a freak as she wasn't even doing agility, she had finished the sequence and was getting her reward she moved away that fast she twisted her hip, this will be a year come February 18th! Hopefully once we get back to training she will be okay to compete this year (pawscrossed). I have missed the training, however not the long drive there and back, the cold barn and the horrible weather! Khandi has been her usual Princess self she thinks it's bliss! Ellie on the other hand is so active, she really has missed it.

We have been out our usually daily walks, plenty training indoors to keep them stimulated and of course we have been to the beach as often as the weather will permit us! Khandi is such a different dog there she loves it runs around like a loonie then as she does goes off sniffing! Ellie just loves her ball and would run and run and run and run and run LOL!

Can't believe it is the 6 November! The weather is so good for this time of year!

Blue skies & sunshine and not cold, a wee nip in the air, although not really too bad.

Well you have to take the nice days when there here, so off we went to Ayr. The dogs get a good walk there and Ellie gets to run about on the beach and grass like a loonie, she loves it!

Ellie cracks me up with her little antics! She is just so darn cute! This little Sheltie has so much charisma she lights up a room and makes you feel so much better. Love this wee dog so much!

She sat like this for the length of time I was watching the World Sheepdog Trials, about 30mins! She even knew when they had finished the round, you'll see her at the end turning right round and looking at me.

East Lothian Agiltiy Competition 9 & 10 July 2011

Well we were off to East Lothian for the weekend. I was really looking forward to it. We were meeting up with Lian, Sonic & Sizzle (Ellie's brother) who were staying at the same hotel. Rhoda & Matthew who have Bracken, Brodie & Brooke were also up. I was so looking forward to meeting up with them all again and of course all the Shelties! Mum, my friend Clare her mum and myself arrived on the Friday evening and met up with Lian. Poor Lian was shattered after her long drive, so early bed for Lian. We sat up a wee bit later and had a chat in our room before heading to bed. Well......what a night I couldn't sleep, still wide awake a 3am! between the rain thundering down, my mum snoring aaarrggghhh and a drip coming from somewhere I was lucky if I had 2 hours. My alarm went off at 6.30am got up changed, dogs fed and then just as mum was getting up my alarm had went off at 5.30am! aarrggghhhhhh! back to bed! I was shattered when I got up! I was so tired and grumpy on Saturday, I didn't really enjoy the day. The weather was lovely, sunshine and blue skies, great to have a t-shirt on! Then at 3pm just as we were sitting to watch the Champ class final, the heavens opened the thunder rolled! By the time I got back to the car the dogs and I were soaked and I had to change myself as I was soaked through! Not a good day! Khandi had a clear in G6 agility, which she got 2nd place (video below) and an elimination in G6 agility, decided not to run the last class as the weather was awful! This was a nice flowing course, a slalem & pull throughs though! I was pleased with Khandi's run, she got 2nd place in this one.

We headed back to the hotel, got all the wet clothes out for drying and chilled for a wee while. We met Lian, Rhoda & Matthew for dinner in the hotel, which was lovely. It was nice to sit and chat as at agility you are darting about and at times don't really get a chance to just relax and have a nice conversation. Thank you Lian, Rhoda & Matthew for a lovely, relaxed and pleasant evening. I was planning to take the dogs to the beach afterwards, however the rain followed us, so a quiet evening. On Sunday I had a nice sleep, except my alarm went off at 5.30am again! I had no alarm set for that time! Back to sleep and up at 6.40am. We moved rooms due to the drip, I'm glad as it rained most of the night. We headed to the show, first run was G6 agility, a very different and unsual course, however it is nice to get a challenge and something different. Khandi did get eliminated at the weaves again! She is being a madam at the weaves just now! Then we had G6 jumping, eliminated again at the weaves! Last run was at about 2.30pm, well this was a "dizzy" course (video below). I had a great day today, really enjoyed it! This was a "dizzy" course! Khandi did well in this. I decided between jump 10 & 11 I would block the jump rather than layer (stay on the other side from Khandi & push her past) the wee diva nipped in behind me, so we were eliminated.

Looking forward to seeing the pictures Lian took of Ellie & Sizzle & Ellie, Sizzle & Brodie (visit The Knights Shelties to see them, I'm sure Lian will put some up) We got home for about 4pm, which is great!

Ellie Update - after xrays

As you all know Ellie has been having problems going lame. The past couple of weeks she has been her mad self running about like a looney and going her walks. I decided to get her booked in for an x-ray to see what was exactly going on.

Right here goes....... Ellie did twist her hip. What has happened is she has twisted where the ball goes into the socket joining the hip, this is causing the hip to pop. The Vet took 3 x-rays - one with her lying flat on her back stretched out, one of the right side and one of the right leg as he wanted to check the stifle and around that area too. He checked her this morning (Thursday 30 June) and she was ready to nip him when he pulled the right hip.

The Vet showed me the x-rays and talked me through them. There is quite a cap between the ball and the socket, compared to the left side (there shouldn't be as big a gap) He feels that with rest and what I am doing this should repair itself hopefully in a couple months and then if all goes well paws-crossed Ellie can go back to agility next year. Ellie has been on a supplement called "Yumove" since mid-April. I have had good feedback from friends whose dogs have been lame and now are not. She has nice white teeth now as the Vet Nurse cleaned them all. Now I need to maintain them, this will be fun!

PRESTWICK SHOW 11 & 12 JUNE 2011

Khandi had some lovely runs over the weekend. The weather was lovely on the Saturday until 3pm the heavens opened and that was us soaked! On the Sunday it was even nicer, I actually got to run in my t-shirt (in the video) it has a Sheltie head pic and Yvonne & Khandi on it. Again it got cold around 12pm so layered up for the afternoon - crazy weather.

No places for Khandi on the Saturday but I was pleased with her runs. On Sunday she got 2nd place in grade 6 agility (video below) How come you feel as if you're moving fast and then you look at the video and go eh! It's good when it's graded classes as Khandi usually will pick up a place if she goes clear, this way you can see how she is getting on against other dogs at her level. With the smalls there is a lot of combined classes so for Khandi usually it is combined graded 5-7, I think Grade 7 should compete against themselves as the dogs and handlers are mostly very experienced and agility champions (just my opinion).

I am always a bit more nervous when I know the judge - well in this agility class it was the Scottish Heelwork to Music Champion, I used to take Khandi to her classes - so no pressure then!

My mum is getting better at taking videos now, well...... except she is now banned from the zoom button - it went from far away to theirs my legs LOL! She did manage to get a couple of good videos this weekend, luckily the 2nd place one was one of them!

Khandi's confidence and speed in increasing - she is getting back to what she was like before she went into Grade 5 - I remember last year i had to send her ahead a lot as I couldn't keep up!

I just need to try and increase Khandi's weaving speed as we are loosing valuables seconds there. Her Dog Walk speed is increasing, so just need to push that also. I have been checking her times and this week in both agility and jumping her time was 10seconds faster which is great!

Gleniffer Agility show 28 & 29 May & Ellie update

GLENIFFER

We were at Gleniffer Agility Competition over the weekend. The weather was atrocious; think we have fast-forwarded to Winter, missing Spring & Summer. On Saturday the rain was hammering down, then sunshine, then pouring, then sunshine and so on all day! Although it wasn’t too cold. Today (Sunday) it rained most of the morning, then just before 11am it started to dry up but the winds started to get stronger, bit cooler today!

SATURDAY

Well what can I say Khandi loves to keep me on my toes! I wish I had got my mum to record our first run, to be honest it was really tricky and I thought there is no way we're going to get round this! Well.......Khandi flew round it and my handling was flowing so that was good except that the wee bugger missed her Dog Walk and Seesaw (never usually misses that one!) very pleased with the run though. She was the fasted dog, faster than 1st by 5 secs and faster than 2^nd by 10 secs but her faults (10) took her to 3rd!

Second run another agility nice course, very running one though! Well Khandi started of brilliantly missed contact and then decided to say hello to a dog a ringside! Got her back over the Seesaw it banged, she got spooked! Managed to get her over the wall for the second time (thought she would have avoided it) got to the weaves came in at the wrong side then circled them, managed to get her in the correct way then she totally went away in a daze mid way got her through them, over that it was a jump left jump tunnel jump back right Dog Walk (the tunnel was under the DW) I am not sure if that freaked her or if she thought she was going back up the SS - OMG it took forever I was determined she was going up it and she did! Then she did the rest beautifully jump wall tunnel jump jump. I did thank the judge as K took up so much time! I also spoke to her today (Sunday) as she was running her dog. She was very understanding and we had a wee chat as she has a dog that is a sensitive too.

Third run jumping again back-to-back classes ran down to that one had to try and remember the course. All the errors were down to me except the weave again went in from the wrong side again! Good thing finished for 2pm took them a walk and home for 3.45pm.

SUNDAY

First run was jumping first thing, as it was my trainer’s daughter whom I train with I am more nervous and yes you guessed it I mucked it up, elimination! Khandi was doing really nicely.

Second run was just before lunch – it was an agility course, would Khandi go up the dog walk? Well…..she was running fast I heard the jump falling so wasn’t sure if she knocked it or the wind took the full jump (poles & wings) down, Khandi usually clears her jumps! as I turned round to look and then turn back to continue I nearly fell LOL I don’t know how I managed to keep myself upright! She went over the seesaw and flew over the dog walk YEAH! Another lovely clear round, which gained her 3^rd place.

Third run was just after lunch – it was a jumping course. Khandi started off very slow, after the 4^th jump she kicked right into speed and away she went! Another lovely clear round, unfortunately no fast enough to get placed.

So pleased with Khandi her confidence is growing and speed is increasing. A lot of people are also commented on these too, which is great! The courses Khandi runs now are usually very intriquet (sp?) courses usually twisty, silly angles, turning back and crazy placing of obstacles. I am very happy with my wee lassie.

ELLIE UPDATE

Poor wee Ellie was there as a spectator. When I take her out a walk all she does is barks at the big dogs in the rings LOL! Ellie just wants to be in their doing it, plus she thinks she is a big dog LOL!

This leads me to her injury. In my deepest heart I feel that her agility has ended before it has begun. Ellie has so much potential, the drive she has is amazing and she is a joy to run.

I took her to my own vet on Friday, who reassured me that it most likely is soft tissue damage and that no further tests are needed. She gave her a thorough check – stifle, leg, hip, spine, discs all pulled, pushed and manipulated and checked against the side which has no issues - Ellie gave no reaction (however she has been on metacam, Friday was her last does) The vet told me that if there was soreness she would still react. I have complete faith in my vet, so we will see how she goes. I can take her to physio as they have a physiotherapist now, so I think I am going to get her to a few sessions to see how it goes. I have started her on Yumove (a supplement) and I have ordered a back on track jacket to see if that helps too. I have just increased her exercise this weekend. When we were over at the park after the show this afternoon – I swore she pulled her leg up again, then I am like or did she? As after that she was like a maddie, she was on lead but my friend was playing with her dogs with the ball and Ellie just wasn’t off to go join in, wee soul.

Physio advised me to take Ellie back to the vets . Took Ellie to vet on Wednesday (not my usual vet as she in on holiday). He advised twisted hip, gave her metacam and advised two months rest. I am :( for wee Ellie as she was running up like a looney and it didn't seem to be bothering her. I feel so guilty, as I feel I have competed with her too soon! I would never have ran her if I for one minute thought she was not ready! After each run I kept a close eye for any lamness, there was nothing. She ran her runs without any signs of lamness too! She was flying round the courses, loving every minute! Ellie's eyes just light up when she does agility. Anyway kinda' went off on a rant there.

I waiting until the metacam is nearly finished and going to go back to my usual vet for a second opinion. I would like xrays done to rule out any further problem - if we can rule that out then we know we are defiantley dealing with ligamnet, soft tissue damage. How can it go from twisted knee to twisted hip.

FAIR CITY (50th Anniversary) AGILITY SHOW 14 & 15 MAY 2011

We were off to Perth this weekend to compete at Fair City. I love this competition and where it is held (Scone Palace, grounds). The weather was pretty mixed although the wind kept the rain away, we also had bursts of sunshine. It was warmer on the Sunday (even though it was more overcast) Saturday was pretty cold but more sunshine.

This was Khandi's first Grade 6 competition. She had her "Diva" moments on the Saturday! On Sunday she had kicked back into steady Khandi, her speed had increased, confidence and she was enjoying it. No rosettes for Khandi this weekend, need to get her speed up!

This was Ellie's come back show! I was terrifed to run her but she has been okay running about like a looney so I had to just go for it with her. She ran all her runs brilliantly, her speed was super, she seemded to have forgot how to weave LOL! No too worry I was very very pleased and happy with her! We had a rerun as the timer didn't go off - I ran it straight away as I had another class to walk (which was walking). Well when I go to the last three jumps my legs started to go I had send Ellie away on her on LOL clever girl did :). After we ran the next class, i took her aside gave her a treat, when we walked away she pulled her leg up about three times :( then it settled down. My heart sunk! We got back to the B&B and she seemed okay, then she was on three legs for a few minutes then fine. I rested her the rest of the night. I decided to rest her on the Sunday. There has been no lamess since about 8pm on Saturday until today (Monday 16 May) she's pulled it up a couple of time. We are off to the Physiotherapist this evening so we'll see what she says. Looks like Ellie is back to rest for a good few weeks. As long as my dog can go her walks and play I happy, if she is able to do agility then that's a bonous! Ellie loves agility and it would break my heart if that was her finished before she's started.

We had a fab time up in Nairn! The weather was good, caravan park is good as located right next to the beach. Great walks for the dogs, although had to restirct myself this year as Ellie is just getting better, didn't want to over walk her. The dogs just love the beach, especially Khandi she just comes to life a different dog. I have a couple of video clips where Ellie is taking a crazy turn, chasing Khandi! LOL! My heart was in my mouth at first, I let her off lead, before I knew it, she just zoomed off running round and round! She seems to be okay now, no stiffness the next day and no lameness after the zooming around. I just hope she is now just about there as her wee eyes just light up when she's running around, she loves it! She got to play with her ball!

It was KHANDI's 5th Birthday on the 19th April,
what a wonderful way to spend it :)

Kingdom of Fife, Agility Competition 16 & 17 April

DIVA KHANDI DOES GOOD!

We were competing at the Kingdon of Fife show at St Andrews this weekend! lovely venue and one of my favourite shows. The weather was lovely blue skies and sunshine!

Khandi won the Grade 5 Agility, which takes her into Grade 6 woohoo clever girlie!

Khandi had a good weekend! The handler (me!) let her down a few times! Her speed is increasing again! The courses were not particularly nice! It's tough as Khandi runs in the Grades 5-7 courses - they are usually very challenging and very stop start! It will take us time to build up some confidence and get her speed back up to the standard this time last year. Going from courses for Grades 1 -4 to Grades 5-7 is a huge jump!

Decided not to run Ellie as I feel she needs a few more weeks rest.

Our B&B was gorgeous huge double bed and a single bed! Bathroom had a jacussi, brilliant shower and televison! We have stayed her before stayed in a different room which was goregous too! They house itself is gorgeous and the breaksfast is superb! Booked my room for the August show!

We are off to Nairn tomorrow until Friday on holiday.

A quiter B'Day for Ellie today as she is still on rest! She will get her usual slow, steady walk later on this afternoon! She really, really wants to go mad with her new toy from bro Sizzle! She LOVES, LOVES, LOVES it! So hopefully when she is up to it she can go mad with it! I wish we could do our usual and go away to the coast for the day! We have to look after Ellie and get her back to her usual pocket rocket wee self soon!

Ellie Update 3

Well.....Ellie is now out very short, slow walks roughly 10mins over the past week. She seems to have settled down a bit, I am just hoping she is now turning a corner. Trying to keep her from playing is still very hard, she will bring over her ball, then go and get another toy and another and another, look down and there is about 6 at my feet, wee soul just doesn't give and I feel oh so guilty.

I decided to take her for Hydro/Physio to see how she gets on. Her first session was tonight, she did very well, didn't seem to phase her one bit! Just need to see how the stifle reacts over the next couple of days as that is the most exercision it has had since the accident happend a month ago. If all is well we are back on Thursday for another session.

Quite funny as when she was let go to swim on her own she made her way towards me LOL!

Ellie was at the vet this evening. Looks like soft tissue damage as cannot find anything else out of place. So plenty of rest for the wee hyper one. Agility season will be slightly later for Ellie paws crossed.

She is putting her leg down a lot longer, was still pulling it up last night. Today so far (touch wood) I have not saw her pull the leg up! She is starting to zoom so I need to be quick to keep her calm, what a girll!

I am still not that happy with Ellie's progress. I felt yesterday she wasn't putting it down any more than Sunday! I phoned the vet and was advised to give her another day and if no better she has to go in for a morning to get an xray done. Today she is moving about faster, however still pulling the foot up (which I am still no happy about) the good thing is she is putting it down for longer! Boy can she move on three legs! She so wants to play and is moving about too fast! She has been put in her crate most of the day, to keep her from bolting about! So at the moment I am waiting to see what she is like tomorrow and will make a decision then :(

All I want is my wee dog to be able to play and go for her walkies.

Angel Skye

Well….. it’s 5 years today that my beautiful gentle Skye ran free from her pain to Rainbow Bridge. Not a day goes past that I don’t think about my gorgeous Skye. A sweet girl, loved her ball and of course food. Skye and I undertook a 6 ½ month journey in which she battled so hard! She was too young to have went through what she did and she did it so bravely I was so proud of her.

She is never forgotten and will forever be in my heart!

Ellie Training 18 February 2011

Last night I took my dogs agility training. We had a really great session with them both!

She hurt her knee at training last night, it was a freak accident. She was on the seesaw, I released her, she came for her treat did a sit then I walked away. She usually is by my side, looked round she wasn't there? My friend shouted she is hobbling behind you! She must have twisted or did something to her knee then! I am so worried about her, didn't sleep last night. Managed to get an appointment at the vets first thing, it was my usual vet which was great! She felt everything nothing broken, fractured, nails, pads all okay. She can't get a good feel at the knee for the swelling, she gave her metacam. I have to go back if it get's worse, if not I have an appointment for Friday to check her incase she needs an x-ray to see if there is more damage done.

I am really worried that it's her cruciate ligament. Something similar happened to Khandi, but she could feel her's as no swelling, she had a slight tear in the cruciate after a months rest she was back to herself.

Oh it is so difficult to get Ellie to rest as she is always on the go. My wee lassie just plays all the time, I am totally gutted for her as she is now on total rest for at least 6 weeks. I feel so guity, if I had stopped when my friend did she would be fine. I decided to give her an extra couple of runs before swapping to Khandi Oh how I regret not doing this I am full of guilt and worry for my wee dog. My poor wee girl I just pray that if it is the worse we can recover and she can get back to playing with her toys and walks.

Just now I am not happy with her as she is holding her leg up more than she was. She is managing to fly around on three legs though!

AVON KC COMPETITION 6 FEBRUARY 2011

At least this show was 15mins from home brilliant! Ellie was running in four classes, two jumping and two agility all graded which is great. This show was just for small & medium dogs, thought it would be a quick show, not to be there was a lot of entries. Khandi is not running as she doesn't "do" indoor shows. Ellie started of with Agility first, for some reason she ran past the first and the last jump, did all of the rest of the course great and fast. Second up was another agility, she was wild in this one, another elimination, although did do some of it lovely! It was about 12.15pm, so mum and I decided to head home to freshin' up! we had our lunch and got a heat. I decided to leave Khandi at home for the second part as it was quite cold. Next up was Jumping, Ellie got 3rd place in this one, my handling could have been better. At one part I wanted to front cross, as Ellie is so fast I didn't have time, I had to rear cross which led to loosing a few seconds at the jump or she would've won it!) as there was only 1.something seconds between 1st, 2nd and 3rd! All-n-all a lovely run by Ellie. Next up jumping, Ellie got 2nd place! Another really good run! just need to get her turns tighter to shave off those seconds lost! All-n-all really pleased with my wee lassie. The show didn't finish until 6.30pm, a bit shocking for a small/medium show. They only ran one ring and the entries were of a high number. Being at a show from 8.35am until 6.30pm is a long day especially as it was heavy rain in the morning and cold, although it brighted up in the afternoon but still cold.

Agility - CRA Fun Competition

Today was our Club's Fun Agility Competition. Ellie was entered in the four classes, she did really well. Went clear in the jumping, got placed 3rd. Next up the Agility, got eliminated, decided to go through the tunnel more times than needed on the course LOL! Next up jumping, got eliminated, decided to go over the wrong 2nd jump, once back on course another cracking round. Last up agility, went clear in this one another good round.

Khandi doesn't like indoors for some reason so she had a lovely relaxing day watching all the going ons :)

Horrendous waether conditions here GRID LOCK! Snow fall at least 3 foot! No roads just snow as if your in a park! Snow has finally stopped!

Ellie just loves playing in the snow! Took her lightweight ball out so it didn't sink, she had great fun! I'm fed up as we can't get out our walks! Ellie has so much energy! Khandi isn't too bad, she watched from the porch this afternoon! Taking them out a walk can be too sore on their paws between the coldness of the snow and if they get grit in their paws ouch!

Not much happening thses days. Agility season is over, well except from the very odd winter show. Ellie will be competing in those to gain more experience for the start of the season in April. Khandi will be having a wel deserved rest, although will be still be training during the winter. Khandi did well this season, now in grade 5, such a clever girlie. Ellie had a run out in some shows, she certainly is so up for it, loves it! I need to get her under-control and she is such a pocket rocket and eager to get round the course.

KENNEL CLUB INTERNATION FESTIVAL

Well we are just about rested and getting back to normal! We headed to the competiton last Thursday, lovely hotel 10mins from Rugby and about 20mins to the show. First day of competing was Friday 13 August! Khandi had a en early run so we were up at 6.30am and headed to the show 7.15am. Nations Cup Jumping was her first run, nice course and Khandi went clear. Later on it was the Nations Cup Agility, another nice course with a few "traps" Khandi went clear in this also. In total Khandi was entered into 9 classes over the weekend and managed 5 clears, got a nice rosette for a clear round :) She had 2 eliminations, one entirely my error, I took the wrong course LOL! The others were silly faults. She was being a wee madam popping out the end weave, looked like she was in a wee world of her own LOL!

The weather was terrible Friday and Saturday, lots of heavy showers and then sunshine! Saturday there was Thunder and Lightning too! Sunday was the best day lovely sunny day :)

Ellie had one class a day as she is still being introduced to the competing world! She managed two eliminations, however she did complete the full course, just silly eliniations! Then on the Sunday she got round the course with just 5f, all she did was run past a jump, apart from that it was a lovey quick round, so pleased with my wee girl she has so much drive!!!! :)

Khandi got to run for Scotland in the Nation Cup Final on the Sunday, unfortunately she got eliminated in both L sorry Team Mates! Apart from that the runs were lovely! My camera decided to break as we were going into the main arena, so no pics of that. I do have pics of the jumping round!

East Lothian and Gleniffer July 2010

East Lothian show 10 & 11 July
I like this show such a lovely ground to run on. Khandi got a 2nd in Jumping and a 2nd in Agility. The weather was not very good on the Saturday it was wet until the afternoon and then it brighted up. On the Sunday it started off nice but by the afternoon the weather was terrible the winds were rising and getting really strong! The tents at the rings were all down by 1pm!

Gleniffer show 24 and 25 July
This was Khandi's first Grade 5 show! When standing in the queue for her first run which was agility my heart was beating out my chest! Up with the big dugs now which includes champ dogs and very experienced handlers so a bit daunting! Khandi did really well she did her what is "usual" just now popped out the weaves, then when she went up the dogwalk, I saw her jump off the side? My friend told me a handler in the next ring shouted a command at their dog, Khandi looked round and jumped off, maybe it was that maybe not? Anyway she did really well, got a 3rd place in that one. Next up was the jumping round, nice course except the dreaded "box" area! With the assistance of another handler who suggested a couple of ways to do it, it made it clearer. Khandi did it perfectly lovely round got 2nd in that one! Next up the agility did really well but ran past the second last jump then back jumped so eliminated! Rosettes were only given to first place, so none for Khandi this weekend!

Sunday well went from bad to worse! Got lost on both courses! Poor Khandi she is now looking for a new handler! The last class, agility was good she went round it nicely apart from the handler nearly squashing her! 5 faults in this one, take a look and see what you think.

ELLIE
It was Ellie's first show! I had decided to enter her into one agility and one jumping class over the weekend! I'm glad I did as it was Khandi's first Grade 5 show too! Ellie had an agility class Saturday afternoon. I was really pleased with her! She did get eliminated as she back jumped but if you look at the video I would say it was handler error. Ellie was so up for it and ready to GO! Sunday afternoon she had a jumping class. She did have a couple of mad spells but all-n-all I was really happy with her. She ran past jump 4 got her back and over it then ran round jump 7, then back jumped it! Got her back over it and away she went over two jumps tunnel jump tunnel and then 5 jumps - decided to run past the finish jump LOL! I was pleased with Ellie, such a clever girl. CLYDE VALLEY 3 JULY 2010

Saturday 3 July

Up at 6.40am to get ready to head off about 7.20am. This show is only about 40mins away so nice and localish! An overcast morning and windy by the afternoon sunshine and windy!

First run at 8.30am, nice course my trainers sister is judging, no pressure LOL! Jumping Combined grade 1-4. Khandi started off fantastically and them for some reason entered the weave at the wrong end and popped out the last pole, decided to keep her going (got eliminated) great run apart from that. It was a nice course!

No more runs until after lunch! next run my judge is my trainer, no pressure, again! LOL! Agility Combined Graded 1-4. Khandi ran this course well and went clear! Really proud of Khandi, she won it! A nice medal and rosette from our lovely judge and a nice course. Now, this was Khandi's first competition in Grade 4 and 2nd class, as she won it she now moves up to Grade 5!!!!!

Now as I was waiting to run the agility course, my other agility course was being shouted to walk. So off I went to walk that one before I ran the other one! I hate walking two courses back-to-back especially when they are same! So off from the winning agility class straight to the next one. another lovely run, got a 2nd place in this one! You'll hear my sister, nephew and Ellie barking in this one (trying to phathom out how to edit!)

Got up Sunday morning drove 20mins and turned back the wind was howling and rain was torrential! I'm not that mad! I would have needed to weigh Khandi down so she didn't blow away! LOL!

PRESTWICK SHOW 12 & 13 JUNE

SATURDAY
Early rise, judging starts @ 8.15am. Only about 30-40mins drive, nice localish show down in Ayr! Khandi had a great day! She managed to win an Agility class & Jumping class, won this by 10secs! and a 2nd in an Agility class, clever girlie. Her handler let her down one elimination in a jumping class. Khandi zoomed round the jumping round and both agility runs especially the last run I couldn't keep up with her she was like a bullet out a gun flying round the ring! Sun was out but there was a cool breeze. Never put sun lotion on and got a wee bit burnt on the face and kneck! All four runs were spaced out nicely! Had to wait until prize giving which wasn't until about 6ish, got home just hafter 7pm. I enjoyed the day, so proud of Khandi she is really coming on this season.

SUNDAY
Great start to the morning, had to reset clock before I went to bed, alarm went off dozed for a wee while then got up at 6.40am, running late! Went downstairs no mum, thought that's strange, looked at the time it was 5.40am aaaarrrggghhhh! So I went back to bed and got up at the right time 6.25am! Pouring with rain until 9ish then eased off around 10am, dryed up and then the sun came out around 12 really warm with a nice breeze! Khandi had a bad start, first course I felt was a bit tricky for Grades 1-4. Well I didnt run jump 2 the way I had walked it, numpty! Khandi back jumped jump 2 totally my fault, then did the rest nicely! Next was the jumping round a couple of tricky parts in that, Khandi went clear and got a 2nd in that one! Then is was time for lunch with a jumping course to walk over lunch, nice course. Khandi went clear in this one too a lovey run and got 2nd. Last run which was the agility run at 2pm brilliant. Nice course, Khandi was fast and lovely went clear and won it! WTG Khandi such a clever girlie!

It was nice to relax and watch the other dogs not having to check on the runs to see when you were on. So loads of lovely runs I mostly watch the Small & Medium rings! One prize giving was done just before lunch, the other two did not take place until after 4pm, so it was 5pm before we were ready to head home!

AVON 5 & 6 JUNE 2010

Another early rise this weekend, first run both mornings! At least the show is local so only takes about 30-40mins to get there.

Saturday was a really really hot day, there was a slight breeze which was great.

First run KC Olympia Stakes, ran this just for some fun. A nice course for G 1-7. Khandi flew round the course I thought she went clear but when I came off I was told she missed her dogwalk off contacts aarrggghhh! My friend who I train with won it, well done Suina & Jodie (who are grade 7) semi-final here they come. Next run was Agility Grade 3-5, my normal courses are 1-3 or 1-4, so this one was a step up and a bit more tricker. Khandi popped out the weave entry, when I took her back, she backed weave so that was us eliminated! Next course Agility Grade 1-3 nice course, Khandi flew round it, went clear and WON it woohoo! Grade 4 here we come :) Last course of the day was Jumping Grade 1-3, nice course couple of traps, Khandi flew round it went clear and got 2nd in this one woohoo! What a brilliant day Khandi had. prize giving was not until 7pm! The heaven opened about 6ish it was torrential! It was a long day, I was shattered!

Sunday was a good bit cooler and overcast, it was ideal competing weather! First run Jumping grade 1-3! Well Khandi is a morning dog but OMG you would have thought she had be fired out a cannon! She was flying round the course, I had to move it and also think quicker! She went clear and got placed 2nd! Next run was Agility combined 1-3, nice flowing course, was in two minds at a couple of parts. Khandi again went off like a bullett! Where I front crossed this pulled her away from the jump so she got a refusal, I though she had jumped it she hadn't so eliminated! I was disappointed as it was my friend who was the judge, sorry Nikki! I think I was preoccupied as there were another two rings about ready to walk and run a the same time after this one aaarrrrgghhh! Anyway they decided to walk them during lunch then run them. I don't like this as I end up either forgetting one or both courses! First up the agility Grade 1-3, quite a tricky course for these Grades I thought. Again Khandi is flying, we got to the second last obstacle, weave I wasn't sure if she missed the entry, so kept going, she did so elimianted, nice run though! Last run of the day Jumping Combined 1-3, nice course a few front crosses! Khandi was off like lightning again, great run and clear, got placed 3rd in this one!

A great weekend! Love the outdoor shows especially when the weather holds out and you can socialise!

SCOTTISH KENNEL CLUB -- SUNDAY 23 MAY 210

Khandi was competing at the SKC she had 2 agility runs and 1 jumping run. First run was around 9.30ish, Agility Combined Grades 1-4, nice course, Khandi missed a contact and a weave arrrgghhh! We had a wait until the next run which was at about 3ish Agility Combined Grades 1-3, yes the rain decided to threaten as we were waiting in the queue, it passed phew. It was a really warm day and when it was overcast was really nice, well that was as long as it didn't rain. anyway back to the run, a brilliant run went clear and fast too - Khandi got placed 2nd in this one, I really did think she was going to win it, nope one second in it! We had another long wait till the last class, so we watched the Champ classes. My trainers daughter got through to the small final, unfortunately eliminated, apart from that a lovely run - well done Suina and Jodie. Khandi's last class was Jumping Combined Grades 1-3, I had to really push her as it was warm and she had been hanging about in the heat poor wee thing. After the 3rd obstacle she stepped up and away she went, she got a 2nd in that round. Such a clever girl whose mum is so proud of her.

FAIR CITY, PERTH (8 & 9 May)

SATURDAY 8 MAY

Well up at 5am, leaving at 6am to drive the 1 1/2 hrs to Scone Palace, Parklands, Perth. A gorgeous part of Scotland and a great place for a competition to be held.

The obstacles in the background are used for horse jumping. All around the grounds there are jumps of various kinds!

As usual we were first run! Small Jumping Combined 1-4, the judge was my hairdresser, friend and I also used to train with her NO PRESSURE THEN! A nice course, when it got to my turn they had me wait until they took a tea order, well my concentration went out the window. I turned to sharp at jump 3, which made Khandi run past jump 4 aarrrggghhh apart from that a great run! I'm sure when I see Lynn, she will tell me off! LOL!

No more videos for Saturday as mum mucked them up yet again! Then ran out of memory aarrgghhhh!

Next class Sml Ag Comb 1-4, another lovely course and nice judge. Khandi went clear in this one and got a 5th Place.

Last class Sml Ag Grd 1-7, I am always a bit apprehensive about a 1-7 course! This one was fine, just a couple of bits where you & your dog could go wrong! Khandi went clear and with a good time, unfortunatley they were only giving 1st and 2nd, I thought she would have been placed high no placing in this one. A cracking run though!

We headed to the B&B around 5pm, it was only 5mins from the grounds. A very good deal for accommodation. If your ever thinking of going North, a good base to stay in, here is the link: http://www.scotland2000.com/skylodge/ Continental breakfast. self-service style, very good, great selection of cereals, jams, marmalades, brown & white bread, croissiants, coffee, tea, fresh orange superb! I stayed in a twin room £39.95 (£20 each) best value I've had staying in a B&B accommodation. The room was nice and clean. The premises is all on the flat, plenty grass to toilet the dogs and a walk round.

SUNDAY 9 MAY

Yes you guessed it up first run again! Sml Jp Comb 1-4, nice course. I thought I had taken Khandi the wrong course and got eliminated, so kinda slowed down a bit and then got myself wrong footed at the end! The judge came over to see me to explain that I was not eliminated, which I thought was really nice. This part of the conversation was so funny - judge "You were taking the wrong course but your dog kept you on the right one" brilliant! LOL Video not on as mum did not zoom in, you'd need a pair of binoculars to watch it! aaarrrggghhhh!

Second run Sm jp Comb 1-4, another lovely course! Khandi as always a clever girl, pity her handler wasn't the same. When I got to jump 11 & 12, I took a blind panic, thinking I had got it wrong then in a split second realised nope your going the right way (you'll see it on the video with my body language) another cracking run by Khandi earning her a 3rd place.

Last run Sml Ag Comb 1-4, another lovely course. Handler remembered the course this time and Khandi had a lovely run. Her speed is improving at every show! She kinda' hesitiated at jump 8 but went over it LOL! This run earned her a 3rd place. Again, mum didn't zoom in enough and misssed the tunnel and jump! Oh we had many arguments over the weekend as if I showed her 100 times I showed her 1000 times. Love it when my friend Clare is there, she recorded the first run, see the difference!

All in all a very good weekend for us both. 6 runs which resulted in 5 clear runs and one with 5f. 4 Placings out of 6 which was 2 x 3rds and 2 x 5th.

I thoroughly enjoyed this competition Judges, Ring Parties and all others involved where all so helpful and nice, a big thank you and well done to Fair City DTC! One for next year!

We went to St Andrews Saturday and Sunday to take part in the Kingdom of Fife's Agility Competition!

We met up with Matthew and Rhona with pocket rocket Brax and Brodie (who is related to Ellie) It was really nice to meet them again! Matt and Brax won 2 x firsts, Rhona and Brodie won a first and a second - taking Brodie into Grade 5 now woohoo! Brax caught a few admirers eyes!

I am so proud of Khandi 2nd outdoor show and she is doing really well! We had a great weekend she had four clear rounds! Got placed 2nd in Agility Graded 1-4 (Khandi is Grade 3) and 3rd place in Jumping Graded 1-4! Just out the placings in the combined agility & jumping grades 1-4.

Been a busy week! Went to Nairn for a weeks holiday! Weather was nice, although a cool breeze at times. The beach 2mins away, white sand and glorious clear blue sea. The girls had a ball, nice to see Khandi relaxed and pouncing about on the beach! She is funny when she gets excited, she bounces and barks, hilarious! Ellie zoomed up and down, up and down, up and down for her ball!

Not been up to that much! The weather is now horrible and now its dark at 5pm! We have been training weekly indoors now. Khandi doesn't really like indoors, I always feel her training goes backwards! Week 3 and she actually didn't limbo under the jumps! The first 2 weeks she was doing it occasionally, hopefully we have turned a corner. Ellie well she doesn't bother, she's off like a rocket! Her training is coming along nicely! She has great speed, I just need to handler her correctly, she is still learning!

Khandi and I are competing Sunday 1 November, this will be her first G3 show. It's an indoor competition, we'll see how we go!

Small Animal Hospital, Glasgow

I was invited to a Donors Event at the newly built Small Animal Hospital. Skye recieved most of her treatment at the Small Animal Hospital. I donate to the charity and also participate in their Annual Doggy Dawdle event. Skye's plaque was just as you entered the reception area, here is the link to virtual wall (type in Skye): http://universityofglasgowbenefactorwall.com/

We were welcomed with beverage and cannapes, a short speech and then a 40min tour of the Hospital. It was quite surreal that the last place we were shown was where the chemotherapy is administered. I was so impressed with the state of the art both inside and outside of the Hospital. Khandi does it again!

We were at the Scottish Kennel Club Agility Competition on Saturday 29 August 2009.

Khandi won Agility Grades 1-3 combined to win out into Grade 3 ,by 10secs, this was her 2nd competition in G2 woohoo Khandi! It was a lovely fast clear round! At one point she was that fast I couldn't keep up with her so had to command ahead until I caught up phew!

She is just loving her agility now, always ready to GO! She just missed out on a 3rd place in Jumping Grades 1-3 combined, another lovely fast clear round 4th place! In jumping Grades 1-4 combined, didn't help her handler got a bit lost (had to walk course during luch, when I do that I forget!) but Khandi still managed to do everything right until 2nd last obstacle - missed weave entry! She had a good time with 5 faults, so came in 5th which wasn't too bad considering there were a lot of good G4 handlers!

Our agility season is now over, we can lie that little bit longer at the weekends now, no more 6am rises! I am so happy with Khandi for her first season. Over the past couple of months she has just been brilliant, stepped it up and won some lovely rosettes and prizes.

KC International Festival & The Knights!

Well we had a hectic few days down South. It was Khandi's first competition in G2, what a way to start! She just had the one run on Friday, a lovely clear round in agility. On the Saturday she had 3 runs which ended up hectic. First one was grade 2 agility, I am so glad I walked it when it was medium as in another ring the jumping class G1-3 combined was being lowered. I left the agility ring to go walk the other one, to find out it would be on after lunch phew! Khandi didn't have a good run in the agility one, time faults and 5 faults, she was really slow, think I had her out too long! Walked the jumping class during lunch then went up to the run the jumping class after lunch, whilst standing in queue noticed the other grade 2 jumping ring being lowered, OK need to listen for it being walked! Khandi had a lovely run and well within the time, not fast enough for a place but very pleased with her run. I left that ring to find out the other jumping ring had started - I hadn't even walked it! So I had a quick walk round the outside, then went into the queue to get a look from there. Not a difficult course but it's better to have walked them first! Anyway, Khandi jumped the start jump quick, as she entered the weave a small electric buggy (they were using these to get around) went passed and spooked her she missed another pole! Then she kicked in nicely, through the tunnel, then over 3 jumps, got to the 4th and the wind rose and blew the guizebo sides, I took my eye of her for a minute and away she into where the scribe was and had a sniff at the rubbish bag, then went for a walk out the ring! I took her out at this point! Dogs will be dogs at time! Not a good finish to our competing day! All-n-all I was very pleased with Khandi's three other runs and of course myself as I was extremley nervous.

Sizzle & Ellie

The best part of the weekend was meeting The Knight family Shelties & Human! Sizzle and Ellie are so alike in so many ways - their looks - their wee antics! Lian and Colin are lovely, they were very hospitable to mum and me we greatly appreciated being looked after. Sing well he took a fancy to Khandi, quite funny watching him strutt his stuff for her! Seagul who is shy & gorgeous. Titan is lovely and has a lovely tempremant! Saturn, is so loyal and eager to please - I have a soft spot for him. Sizzle well he is handsome and very clever boy. Watching him running in the training ring, wow! I hope Ellie was paying attention as she has a lot to live up to! I did suggest to Lian she could train Ellie then send her up once she is ready to compete but I have the feeling she wouldn't be returned! LOL! My mum really took a shone to Seagul! We had a great time! Go the The Knights Shelties for more stories and pictures.

Well we had a great time this weekend! My first competition staying on the gorunds of the show, brilliant! I stayed with my fellow CRA member and friend who had a horse box. It is fantastic and she drove it brilliantly!

On the Saturday the sun shone and blue skies on Sunday well the heavens opened and the rain was torrential, although there were dry spells and it was warm, so it was bareable! We still had a great time!

Khandi excelled herself this weekend, what a different dog, so happy and raring to GO at the shows now! She got placed 7 out of 8 classes which was brill! 3 x 1st ( 2 x Ag Grd 1-3 & 1 x Ag Comb 1-4), 2 x 2nds Jump Grd 1-3, 3rd Ag Comb 1-4 and 6th Jump Comb 1-4! Lovely Rosettes and prizes from Granite City! A well ran show.

Another GREAT weekend for Khandi (& her handler!)

Saturday 11th July

2nd Jumping (G1-4) & 3rd Agility (G1-4) lovely clear rounds!

Sunday 12th July

3rd Jumping (G1-4), 2nd Jumping (G1-4) - clear and 1st Agility (G1-4) - clear which now takes Khandi into G2 woohoo!!!!!!

Khandi was a really good girl this weekend. Dogwalk and seesaw she is improving so much. I changed my commands so Khandi can differentiate the two! As when she went up the dogwalk it looked as if she was waiting on it tipping! Now she knows it's the dogwalk!

Wee Ellie had a fab time barking at all the dogs in the rings, as if let me in it's my turn!!!!!

We are all shattered now as we have been up both mornings at 6am to get there for 7.45am to walk the ring at 8am, judging starting at 08.15am. We were finished by 12pm on Saturday and Sunday by 2pm BUT the prize givings were the last ones so late home Saturday 7pm and Sunday 6pm!

Khandi had a great weekend. On Saturday she won 2 x places (1 in agility and 1 in jumping both G1-4). On Sunday she 1 x 2nd place and 1 x 1st place (both junping G1-4) Should have been two firsts! The course time was 42 secs, Khandi's time was 32 secs with 5 faults she missed a weave pole entry - I thought she went clear to arrrgghhhhh! The video of the run is below! The person who got 1st place time was 44.018 secs (12 secs slower!) with time faults so just pipped Khandi to the 1st place by about 0.82. The jumping one she did get 1st place in was quite a tricky course for an inexperienced dog and handler to get round but she did! Again, handler error I turned my body to the left to quick, K came through the middle of the jumps instead of over, aarrrggghhhh!!!!! Ran brilliantly though, I didn't think I would get her through the box section which was mid way on the course but I did and she did it beautfully (so I was told) yeah!

Thought I would post some pics of the girls! We have been training very hard as the agility competition season is here!

Today we went to Balloch, Loch Lomond. It was a hot sunny day, luckily we walked in the woods so was pretty much shaded most of the time! It is such a lovley place - if your ever in Scotland it is worth a visit! There were a lot of people with dogs today, didn't keep them on the lead, which is fine by me if they would just consider putting them on lead when approaching other dogs! There are kids about too so you just don't know how their going to react!

I always have a story to tell on my days out! En-route a Shar-pei was on the Erskine Bridge off-ramp! You can just imagine the fast breaking that happend! All the other cars got round the dog, it stood still in front of me, as I was ready to get out the car to try and lure the dog to me the owner appeared (their is a park just behind it) it ran up the way towards the Erskine Bridge - another lady got out her car but it dodged her by going round the other side! I hope he got it in time! couldn't get it out my mind all afternoon! My mum said 2 police cars went speeding past, when I was in the Tourist Info Centre.

AGILITY COMPETITON SAT 2ND & SUN 3RD MAY - WOODSIDE, BIGGAR

Khandi got her first ever Rosette last Saturday @ her 2nd outdoor competition! woohoo she got a clear run rosette! She was on fire on the Saturday completed all 3 courses! First course (grades 1 -7 combined agility) she got 5 faults, refused the 2nd jump and then went on brilliantly!

7 hours later we had our Second course (grades 1-4 combined agility) she got her clear run, went flying round, it had a trciky jumping end section! woohoo!!!! Third course (1-4 jumping) she went over the first 2 jumps and decided to sniff the 3rd number sign, probably thought it was a target box! then missed her weave entry BUT got it second time and off she went flying over the jumps through the tunnel and over the jumps woohoo!!! I was so pround of Khandi she was a wee star! It was freezing cold but stayed dry. On the Sunday again cold & rainy, not a great day for Khandi completed two courses - 15 faults in the first one (1-4 combined agility) and lost count on the second course (grades 1-7 jumping) a very tricky course this one! Left before the third as I was freezing cold! I can't believe I actually remembered all the courses and I missed walking the very first one on Saturday!!!!!

SUNDAY 10TH MAY

Today was our annual sponsored Doggy Dawdle, I walk this in memory of Angel Skye. The aim is to raise funds for a new Small Animal Hospital in Glasgow. They have started the build and hopefully should be opening in the Autumn. Khandi, Ellie and myself walked the 5k in 45mins! It was dry and warm so that was a bonus!

Quick before the move! They are good girls and will stay for me to get that picture!

Lovely day today, so took advantage of it! Went through to a costal town called Ayr. We had a lovely walk along the beach, Ellie had a paddle in the water, ears going up with the whoosh of the waves! She even found a bucket and spade along the way, she was pawing the spade, so funny! Khandi on the other hand doesn't really bother, she's too much of lady to get her paws wet! They had their new fleece padded harness on. Khandi got one for her birthday (Ellie got one too) As I find it so difficult to get a harness to fit, these fit perfectly and are nice and comfy for them too!

When we were getting to the "busy" part of the beach we headed off to the pavement as we were walking along I said to my mum I could hear a dog barking and it's as if it's coming from the sea! I could see something bobbing up in down in the water, really far out, birds circling above! again I heard the barking and I said to my mum I am sure that is a dog out there in distress trying to get back to shore. Looked about nobody was doing anything, couldn't see any owners about! I looked around for the coast-guard nothing! Headed off the the kiosk to ask if they had a phone to the Coastguard, they didn't, so we telephoned 999 got the Coast-guard, who had just recieved another call. My heart was in my mouth as this had been a good 10mins and the dog was so far out! My mum heard another women saying to her husband she was calling the Coast-guard so must have been her! Then to my amazement a man appeared shouting the dogs name, it started coming towards the beach then would swing back the other way, still barking! Then a woman appeared shouting the dogs name, it seemed to respond to her swimming back to shore, even when it got closer not one of them went into help (scared incase they got wet!) The dog eventually made it back to shore, phew! It must have been so tired! The other lady that telephoned went down she had her jeans rolled up, ready to go in I think. She went to see the owner, which looked like they just brushed her off! They were not in the least bit flustered or stressed! I think the other lady and myself where more stressed than them! This man next to me was making stupid comments, so I had to answer him back, idiot! Oh, and had the Coast-guard arrived, nope!

Next thing that happened, apart from dodging dogs that the owners couldn't control, when you have small dogs you can't help but be more protective! Back to the car, getting sorted, this black lab appears from nowhere - the owners didn't realise it had wandered across a car park to us. Then it decided to bounce back to them (they were still unaware) as a car was approaching! Again they were still unaware, the car just missed it but all our hearts missed a beat. A lady and gentleman who also witnessed it couldn't believe how careless they owners were. They must have wondered why we were all glaring at them!

So all in all a nice relaxing day at the coast! We are all now shattered! LOL!!!!

Today Khandi is 3! Where does the time go! She got some nice cuddly toys, Ellie was quick to get a hold of them! :) as it is a glorious day I took the girls mum & nephew to Troon (a costal town in Ayrshire) I love it there! We played ball, went to the beach, had some ice-cream (the dogs got a wee lick!) watched my nephew have fun in the playpark then went back to the park to have some more fun with the ball! Ellie was having a great time! Khandi was pondering about watching over all of us! I did a bit of heelwork to music practice with Khandi she just loves it (nothing to with the food, aye right! LOL!!!) Then we headed back to the car for the 50min drive back home. We all had a great day. Here is some pictures.

TRAINING @ TROON

Went through through to the coast this afternoon. There is a nice spot which is quite private as it's all fenced in and no one really walks on it. Ideal for agility training, as your not disturbed with other dogs, whose owners don't bother keeping them away! Khandi had a great day jumping her full height from the start, only refused a couple of times. The poles were never lowered and she was happy to jump them at the correct height, which was great! She is such a different dog training outside, she was full of beans, barking and jumping about!

Ellie had a wee go to, poles are still on the ground but she flies like a rocket and comes straight to me. She is so eager to please!

My friend from agility was with me and her two Border Collies, Coady & Keira! We had a great day - took them for a walk along the beach afterwards. Nearly got blown away though! Not cold just very windy - little Ellie nearly blew away! LOL!!! :)

Khandi's first KC Agility Competition

Well this weekend was Khandi and my first KC Agility Competition, it was at Dundee. Up at 5am left home at 6.10am to drive the 1hour 20mins to Dundee, welcome to the world of agility! We had a great weekend, plenty of socialising with the other club members! Poured with rain on Saturday, glorious on Sunday! Khandi had a couple of fair rounds. It's our first time as an agility dog and handler. I wasn't too nervous, just relaxed and enjoyed the weekend. It will take time to build Khandi and my confindence for competing. The courses were fine, not too tricky - well one was at bit, the others were fine, which calmed me down a bit!

Ellie is shattered and she was spectating! She was getting excited (which is a good sign) wanted to join in with the BIG dogs, she was barking like nothing else when she watches the dogs going round the course!!!!!! She's the same at training, a very vocal wee dog! So funny on Saturday night, she was on my knee and her head was slowly lowering, she just couldn't keep her eyes open! LOL!!!! She turned many a head over the weekend!

Ellie had a great training session, 11 obstacles and she did brill! Couldn't believe when I used the "in" command to turn her into her left towards me she got it first time, clever girl! To explain, she was jumping a jump straight, I was down at the weaves, so she had to turn back from the jump in towards me! She doesn't weave on her own yet, but I as was so chuffed when she followed that command first time! She went flying over the contacts and all the other jumps!

Khandi had a good training session too! Khandi is harder to get motivated, at one point she decided to lay down while waiting on her turn and it was "do I really need to" so funny, up she got! Khandi did the slalom (sp?) 4 jumps and then we did the pull-through! She also did about 7 obstacles today! As time went on she was getting more motivated which is great!

TRAINING TODAY
Ellie had a great training session today, she has no fear of any the equipment. First time through the soft tunnel, with being a small dog it's much harder to push through. My trainer held the bottom of it open and away she went through it no problems. She is still trying it on with not fetching the ball as she knows I have food in my pocket. I usually give her food with the contacts and the ball with the jumps & tunnels.

Khandi well....... her first round was great over the jumps at her height, contacts no problem. Next time around.......she is like don't think I'll jump my height this time aaaaggggghhhhhhhh!!!!! So we went back a step and reintroduced the target box, which motivated her a bit more BUT she was still slow going round, we did about 10 obstacles! Oh Khandi what am I going to do with you as I know you can do it well and fast! I am convinced it is indoor training she doesn't like and maybe it's because this is where she got her first agility injury of a slight tear at the cruciate ligament - maybe!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully we'll be outdoor training very soon and she will return to her clear running self, I hope!

Angel Skye

It is 3 years to the day (21st Feb'06) that I had to let my baby go! Skye was 6 years old when she was diagnosed with lymphosarcoma with hypercalcemia (cancer of the lymph nodes with high calcium levels) She fought bravely for 5 1/2 months. I still miss her terribly she was one special dog who stole a huge piece of my heart. Skye was a very loyal dog and only had eyes for me, you could throw a ball for hours and she would catch and bring back. Skye wasn't a cuddly dog but was very affectionate in her own unique way. Skye was such a brave girl and I always said that when she told me enough was enough I would be there with her at the end, as I would not see her suffer. As we all know quality of life is what we help maintain for our dog and when that goes we need to make that heart-breaking decision to release them from their pain. Run free my special wee angel.

Here we are having fun in the sun! Keeping fit and warm, as it was really cold! Some heavy snow this morning but cleared away later in the morning. Never made it to agility today, so off took them off to the park for some running around!

SNOW WAY

SO THIS IS SNOW!

Little Ellie's first real snow fall! Well she didn't know what to make of all these little pieces of white fluff falling on top oh her SO she decided to try and catch them! SO funny! She loved when I threw some light, small snowballs for her to catch, she tried and then looked around as if to say, where did they go SO she decided to eat the snow!

The girls had so much fun running after one another, catching the snow! Getting covered in snow and all nice and wet! Nice to see them enjoying themselves. Khandi who is usally a "poser" kept turning her head everytime I tried to take a pic - the one above is the best one I got! Today the snow has been washed away by all the rain!!! It's freezing cold though, maybe more on its way!!!

Ellie's 3rd agility lesson and her first time outdoor agility training session. This is where we would normally train, as there has been a lot of rain we have been training at the indoor venue the past couple of weeks - I usually take Khandi there on a Sunday for an extra lesson. I think she was bit like what is going on today, still she did very good. Unfortuately Ellie is not off lead yet, we did try her but she decided to have a wee run off but did eventually come back (my heart was pounding) you know what it's like when your training them to recall off-lead! I used a training lead today as it has a nice length, getting the dog used to being away from you when recalled. Unfortuately I don't have the luxury of a big garden or anywhere to try her off-lead. A lot of distractions also as this is a very busy park, mum decided to take Khandi for a walk, as it was really windy and cold - maybe if Khandi had been about Ellie would have ran to her! Took mum along to take pictures, where was she off a walk, lot of good she was! :)

Khandi was brilliant today! Jumping her height, she is so fast - it helped that the handler was on form today! :) Here are some pictures of Khandi today (I had to take them myself), hopefully will get some of Ellie next time!

Ellie had her first agility lesson today! She did really well, one confident wee doggie! Wasn't sure of the tunnel, as most dogs are! After a couple of times away she went no problem. She waited until called to jump the jumps! Did quite a lot today for her first time. She has slotted into a class which has been running a few weeks, so WTG clever Ellie!

Usually Khandi and her have a wee play after dinner then have a siesta. Tonight both had their dinner and flaked out that was an hour ago and they are still out of it! LOL!!

Well......today I got up to go and watch our club fun agility competition. I heard the high winds and decided we would go later in the day. By the time we left about 12pm the windy was stronger and the rain was thumping down. Last year I lasted the morning session as it was freezing. The competition was being held at a new venue, I had not been there. Well it wasn't cold and noisey, so that made a big difference watching it. very nice venue with a restaurant where you can view the agility competiton and the horse riding area too! My mum's friend took her away for a guided tour!

We were in the car 8 mins and little Ellie throws up, so had to stop and clean it up. By the time we reached our destination one hour later, she had had travel sickness three times! I had DAP sprayed the car and bandana, she also had some drops of rescue remedy. Hopefully she will grow out of it. On the way back she was fine, just some drooling! She cuddled up to Khandi all the way home, too cute!

Well.....back to agility - I was caught coming in, by fellow club friends - where have you been - what time do you call this! I think everyone heard them, so funny! I know that when we are competing I will get there in time! The club runners I saw had really good rounds and I heard a few names being called and placed, so that's good!

This was Ellie's first big indoor competition, with loads of people and dogs. She wasn't phased at all, sniffing and saying hello to all the dogs. Ellie is a bit more cautious of people, but after a couple of minutes she's fine. All-n-all she dealt with the whole atmosphere brilliantly.

Khandi is to people friendly for my liking - it has good and bad points! Khandi did her usual saying hello to all the humans, not so much the dogs - hey, they don't give you food, humans do - Khandi is too clever!

Hi, my name is Yvonne and I have 2 Shelties Khandi & Ellie. I came on here to find other Sheltie owners to share interests with. I have found Ellie's brother Sizzle on here, what a clever and handsome boy he is. I hope his owner see's this site so we could get in contact with each other, that would be really nice.

Khandi is 2 1/2 years old and is currently in agility training and hopefully will be competing in April this year - she also does some Heelwork To Music.

Ellie is 9 months old and is the "new" pup to the household. I received Ellie in October 2008, she is so petite but has huge character. Ellie will be starting agility training as soon too.
